Me and money have had a very shadowy relationship.
I mean, I know I need it, but I’ve never been entirely convinced that I want it. (There be shadow if ever I heard it!)
I’ve tried to want it. As a self-employed person it pays, literally, to have an active relationship with money 😉
So I have read the money books, done the money courses, written my money biography, spoken to trusted coaches, friends and experts about it…and still, fundamentally, couldn’t find a breakthrough.
So it was a revelation for me to take money through a shadow work process and finally bring a major block, that had been lurking in the dark, into the light.
When I invited a shadow figure to emerge that represented money I saw a Gollum character; grasping with one hand, and flinching as though anticipating a kick.
This figure helped me to tune into the fact that my issue wasn’t with money per se, but with wanting.
For me, it is shameful to want. Period. That’s my work. Money was just the flag in the sand saying, “Dig here!”
This is why I love the treasure hunt of shadow work so much; there can be lots of flailing around in the dark before discovering some glimmering treasure that simply changes everything.
And I wonder, how it is for you? How would you describe your relationship with money?
▶ Easy breezy? Feelings of abundance and trust?
▶ Or do you cringe every time someone asks you what your fees are?
▶ Are you wildly jealous whenever you hear about the six-figure coaches, even though you don’t equate success to six figures?
▶ And what was it like for you as a child?
▶ Were your needs met, readily and with ease?
▶ Was it ok for you to want?
▶ And, if you didn’t get what you wanted, was your disappointment met with kindness? Or something less salubrious?
If there is shadow pressure - unsurfaced and unresolved energy - getting in the way of how you choose to run your coaching business then the Meet Your Shadow retreat may be a great place for you to start to explore what blocks are lurking in the dark for you.
And, because money is such a shadow issue, I am choosing to offer two low cost places for the retreat, for people who wouldn’t otherwise be able to attend.
